As every day draws closer, we get more nervous and more excited! We have done our background checks in order to visit our sponsored child in Northern Uganda, we are solidifying our plane tickets, arranging transportation to and from school for our children, buying plane tickets for family to fly out and be a "step-mom" to our beautiful ones, we get our yellow fever shots and malaria meds today, last minute oil changes and tune ups on the car, optometrist and dental appointments, cooking meals to put in the freezer, finish up a 50 page book about my children, house, routines, etc for the people caring for my kids, and more.
Right now, we are collecting baby items for a dear friend who is quite pregnant, in Uganda, as well as gathering more items for the orphanage that we try and support. I have been asked to teach a few lessons to our beautiful Red Star School, so I am designing a few days worth of curriculums revolving around Lent for that. We have also had a few friends step up and offer additional fundraisers for us as well. Praise God for all of these opportunities to serve Him!
Father has told us that Little Benny Michael is still not speaking, and just turned 4, and since I just heard, (gulp) that the families leaving the country now were there for 9 weeks, I am looking for speech therapy tools and toys and books so that I can try and communicate with him as best as possible....and to fit all of this into 2 suitcases?!? The bigger question is 'How will I survive being away from my beautiful precious children for 9 weeks?!?'
These are crazy times for sure.
